To brew pour over coffee like a barista, it's not only about experience, but also about having the right equipment. With these carefully selected tools, you can brew pour over at home.

Brewing pour-over coffee requires precision, which is why the equipment is essential. Here are the seven most important tools you'll need:

  • Good coffee beans. Light-roasted is the obvious choice.
The level of detail in pour over coffee means that all the coffee bean's flavor nuances come into play. The lighter the degree of roast, the more clearly you can taste the notes in the beans. This can e.g. be flavor notes of plum, berry and caramel. We have therefore chosen to include 1 kg of lightly roasted beans with this set.

  • Electric coffee grinder suitable for pour over.
The Fellow Ode Brew Gen 2 is ideal for pour-over due to its precision and control. With 31 grinder settings, you can easily adjust the degree of grinding, ensuring a perfect extraction for pour-over. Its ease of use and anti-static features minimize waste, while the compact size and stylish design make it perfect for home use.

  • Electric kettle with the right temperature and throat.
The Fellow Stagg EKG is ideal for pour-over due to its precision gooseneck that ensures an even and controlled water flow. The variable temperature control allows you to adjust the temperature precisely, while "hold mode" keeps the temperature stable for up to 60 minutes.

  • Coffee scale that ensures the right balance between water and beans.
The weight is essential for pour over coffee brewing. Designed to fit the V60 Dripper Kit, the Hario scale, with an accuracy of 0.1g, helps you achieve the perfect balance between strength and flavor/coffee-to-water ratio.

  • Dripper/Brewer.
The dripper from Hario is designed to distribute the water evenly over the coffee and ensure optimal extraction. It gives you full control over the brewing process and is perfect for brewing 2-5 cups.

  • Server / Jug.
The Hario V60 server keeps the coffee warm with its tight-fitting lid and is compatible with the Hario dripper.

  • Filters for the dripper.
100 original filters from Hario that fit the dripper. To avoid a paper taste in the coffee, moisten the filter paper with boiling water before use. It also makes it easier for the coffee to flow through.

Example of pour over

Once you have the right equipment in place, it's time to brew:

  1. Boil the water to about 93-96°C.
  2. Grind your beans to a medium-fine consistency.
  3. Place your filter in the dripper and the dripper in the server, rinse with hot water, and add the ground coffee.
  4. Pour a small amount of water over the coffee to let it bloom for approx. 30-60 seconds.
  5. Slowly pour the rest of the water over the coffee in circular motions.

With these seven tools and simple steps, you can master the art of brewing pour-over coffee at home. Practice makes perfect and in time you will be able to brew coffee that is as good as the one at your favorite cafe!
