The small LED light on the lid acts as an indicator for:

White: No vacuum
Flashing white: Releasing vacuum
Green: Vacuum activated and maintained
Flashing green: Vacuum in progress
Red: Battery dead
Flashing red: Low battery
Orange: Charging complete
Flashing orange: Battery charging
